Intimidad (1989)

I saw this Mexican film perhaps 12-15 years ago at a university screening, with subtitles. It's probably unavailable in video/DVD except in its own country. The film concerns a hen-pecked husband, so timid he does not dare drive a car, who embarks on an affair with a much younger woman (Lisa Owen) who lives in the same apartment building as him and his wife. He finds eventually that the young woman is as equally demanding as his difficult wife, and leaves them both in a bittersweet ending. It's an enjoyable film, nothing artistic, but captures a slice of small lives in a big city while giving a hint of the expanding role of women in Mexico.
