After seeing this film I wondered why I'd never heard of Jimmie Adams and Lige Conley. After all, this comedy short was about as funny as any film from this era as it was jam-packed with clever gags and had nearly non-stop action--making me laugh again and again. The film begins with the pair being released from jail. Being jerks, they stole practically everything they could from the guard as he hugged them and wished them well! Naturally this was followed with a police chase that had some rather original gags. I particularly liked the tunneling bit--you just have to see it to believe it. Later, the two are suddenly waiters at a very odd night club. The transition to this is too abrupt and I assume that is because part of the film has degraded (something common to silent films). Despite this, the bit worked as did the wonderful scenes where the guys are trying to make love to a married lady (here is where the gags got crazier and even more original). The bottom line is that although Adams and Conley are not household names today, this comedy is every bit as good as contemporary films by the greats of the genre. See it and have a good laugh.
