Potkali se u Kolína (1965)
Short, Animation, Comedy • 0h 14m
I used to hate this film when I was little - it is about two bears: one is bigger, smarter and rather sinister and manipulative in a child-like kind of way, while the other is smaller, naive and totally gullible. Not fair. They meet near Kolin (which is the official name of the film) and the smaller bear goes: "Sir, come and play." (which is the name most Czech people know this film by - "Pane, budeme si hrat"). Their play is always twisted by the bigger bear to end up in the smaller bear losing out in one way or another. Yet the smaller bear always gets over the injustice and comes back with "Sir, come and play." Nowadays, as an adult I really appreciate the film much more. The animation is really imaginative in a pre-computer kind of way. It's a great capture how kids minds work when playing something. Really a cult film amongst stoners and certain young people in the Czech Republic. The original 1960s series has six episodes and is a total gem of Czech film-making. The following series introduce characters from the outside and have different voice-over.
