Quiet, Please (1939)
Approved 01 Jul 1939 • Short, Comedy, Musical • 0h 18m
The latest movie musical comedy starring movie stars Marian Starr and Don Ackerman is filming at Superb Pictures Studio under the directing helm of European import Nitvitch. Nitvitch's strong accent causing miscommunication issues, Marian always being late for her call times, and Marian and Don hating each other in real life while their on-screen characters are supposed to be in love are just a few of the issues plaguing filming. These problems may be compounded when Nitvitch, with the support of his right hand man, assistant director Sammy, gets the OK from producer Carl Sears to make changes to the script, which include changing the locale to a ice palace complete with synthetic ice made from sugar, an indoor snow blizzard scene and an extra character of a gorilla which will be played by a real gorilla plus a stand-in in a gorilla costume when required, that stand-in to be done by ex-prize fighter Max Imhof. As such, there may be just as much unintentional comedy behind the cameras as there is in front.
