Much to his surprise, a young doctor and lucky survivor of the Germans' atrocities in the Nazi-occupied village of Kalavryta, realises that he shares the same railway wagon with the former SS officer and pitiless orchestrator of the annihilation of the community's entire male population, Matthias Krüger. Indeed, the incognito high-ranking official heads to the mountainous village to reunite with two despicable Nazi collaborators, hell-bent on unearthing a blood-stained treasure. However--in a small town of widowed women and orphaned men who are still struggling to find their feet nearly three decades after the mass killings--discovering the haunted prize is easier said than done.
