Maria Antonia (Rosa Carmina) works as a dancer in a cabaret, at the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. She suffers the abuses of the cabaret owner, along with her inseparable friend. One night, Arturo (Crox Alvarado), a marine, arrives to the place with a friend, and feels attracted to Maria immediately. After some difficulties, both start a romantic relationship, threatened by Maria's boss, who has a crush on her. Some time later, Arturo has to leave but he promises to return and to write regularly. Nevertheless, the marine never returns and Maria, now with a little child, commit suicide. 22 years later, Maria's daughter Laura, with and extraordinary resemblance with her mother, becomes a famous dancer. However, fate will join both father and daughter, encounter that is far of being happy.
