Boxing for Points (1897)
01 Oct 1897 • Documentary, Short, Sport • 0h 1m
Two men demonstrate the finer points of pugilism.... or they might, were this not a movie by James A. White.Mr. White, for those of you who have been fortunate enough not to have encountered him before, was an early film maker who either worked for the Edison Company making films, or distributed them through Edison's catalogue from 1896 through 1902. He traveled throughout the world with his cameraman, W. Bleckyrden at the time of this movie, making films that showed one thing poorly, or showed one thing, but were supposed to be about another. This movie is an example of the former genre. The camera is set so far from the two boxers that you can't see anything but that there seem to be two men boxing. You cannot make out any detail of their appearances or movements.
