A bright future and a lovely life await the young naval officer, Yorgos Chatzinikolis, who--after years abroad--returns to Greece to reunite with his doting mother, Lina. A date for Yorgos' marriage to Lisa--the beautiful daughter of an affluent shipowner--has already been set; however, he is madly in love with another woman: Mary, the humble and honest daughter of a poor bouzouki player.
