Outside the Chinese speaking community, even among those with access to the Cinematheque circuit, it's hard enough to see anything of the silent Chinese film, so this trashy Chinese action movie, from Max Weibang, the director of the celebrated MIDNIGHT SONGS, is a rare glance at their popular cinema of the day which deserves our attention.The heroine is abducted by a big monkey, while the fez wearing heavy watches. She's headed for the fatal plaster mold cave - rats, snakes and devil apes.This shoddy but enjoyable piece shows the influence of movie serials. It survives incomplete.
