In late-nineteenth-century Zakynthos, against the backdrop of long-established prejudice and ongoing class discrimination between the haughty aristocracy and the humble petite bourgeoisie, the aspiring lawyer, Zepos Pebonaris, falls in love with the pampered daughter of Conte di Maras, Elda. However, after a brief whirlwind romance, Zepos will soon come face-to-face with the ugly face of reality, as their clandestine union not only is impossible but also it's dangerous. Now, an uprising is brewing against the old regime, and rebellious Zepos is determined to go to great lengths in the name of love.
