Florence, trying to escape fortune hunters, is residing at the seashore, when her maid dies. Florence has pretended to be the maid of this woman and she continues the deception. Her death is cabled to her attorney in New York, who advises her cousin and his wife, who have an adopted son, Harry. Later Harry meets the girl in her disguise as maid, and both are impressed. In a spirit of mischief Florence applies to his parents for a position and secures it. But when Harry shows his preference for the maid instead of for a rich society girl, she loses her position. They decide to elope. Harry's funds run low. They secure a chance to act for the movies. The attorney visits the cousins, and is shown a photograph of the maid. He recognizes Flo. After a long search, he at last sees her face on the screen. He visits the studio. Her adventure is over, and she marries the man who loves her for herself alone.
