Pour un sou d'amour (1932)
26 Feb 1932 • Comedy • 1h 25m
The director himself confessed he never liked this film and all we can do is approve of his opinion. After all, even the greatest directors of the era made duds too: Renoir: "Chotard Et Cie" ;Duvivier : "Le Golem" ;Christian-Jaque : "les Dégourdis de la Onzième" and so on....A millionaire,in love with an innocent girl, does not want to be loved for his money. So he asks his secretary to take his place and together they go to the heroine's desirable mansion...a heroine whose uncle happens to be wealthy too.So where's the problem?Although handicapped by horrible old-fashioned ditties (the title track) sung by the male lead which make the viewer put his fingers on his ears ,or use the fast forward button. If you like Gremillon,do pick up "Pattes Blanches" or " Lumière d'Eté " or "Remorques" instead.
