Nestled between the historic Filopappou Hill--or the Hill of the Muses--and Ano Petralona, Asyrmatos, a paupers' ramshackle neighbourhood, gives shelter to a pale mosaic of poverty-stricken toilers and social pariahs. Under those circumstances, Rikos, the freshly-released small-time crook and petty thief, is already up to his next scam that could help him keep afloat, while in the meantime, Stefania, his childhood sweetheart, squanders herself on ephemeral liaisons with wealthy partners, thirsting to leave the slums once and for all. In the end, amid a bleak environment and a well-hidden reality in the heart of the city, unkept promises, shattered dreams and broken hopes will inevitably bring to their knees all those who dared to escape.
