The poster depicts a scene which is not in the movie:the hero does not parachute down .By chance ,a lady bets on the numbers of the horses a waiter in luxury hotel has suggested her and she wins;"coincidence ", disdainfully says her lover, the wealthy banker ;but she wins again and again and again, which raises his interest ."This simple-minded man ,a ne'er -do-well in a hotel , is a true good luck charm:he always answers hapzardly when he is consulted and it always works out.So the banker "buys" him from his mistress and hires him as a secretary ;soon he becomes the toast of the town ,everyone wants to use his outstanding gift ;when he tries to escape from this world gone man, his boss places an ad in a paper ,promising a reward ,as if he were a stray pet .He tries to use his luck for himself ,but there's the rub : it only works for the fellow men!Lucien Baroux is much fun to watch in this harmless comedy ;not much food for thought but many good scenes:-the elevator ,which stops when "it" wants to.-the boss embracing his secretary after making lots of money ,which scandalizes his wife who mistakes him for a gay.-the highbrow spinster (still attractive) who speaks of philosopher Descartes .-the slot machine which "does not work" or "works too well"Director Berthomieu 's ambitions were slight, but now and then ,he came up with a good little comedy ("Gringalet" ,probably his best , " le mort en fuite " )like this one.
