The Ossetian prince adopts a girl (Fatima), thrown at him, who grows up in his family and becomes the object of love of his son Dzhambulat, as well as the laborer Ibrahim, who is forced to hide his feelings. After the outbreak of the war with the Turks, Dzhambulat goes to war and disappears. After several years Fatima, rejecting many suitors, decides to marry Ibrahim. Her marriage is happening happily, but Dzhambulat suddenly returns seven months later from Turkish captivity and demands that Fatima leave Ibrahim, and when she refuses, she kills him in the night with a shot in the back. At the end of the film, Fatima, after learning about the murder of Ibrahim, goes mad, begins to beat the child. The child of Ibrahim and Fatima, a small Dzhambulat, takes with him to Vladikavkaz a Russian engineer.
