The Day of Rest (1939)
Approved 06 Sep 1939 • Short, Comedy • 0h 9m
Joe Doakes, our intrepid Everyman, explains from his garden lounge chair how few men know how to enjoy Sunday, their day of rest. Joe shows us what too many men do wrong: forgetting it's Sunday and rising at the usual time, being interrupted by children and vacuum cleaners and chatter, confusing activities such as gardening and cleaning the attic for rest, and thinking that a picnic in the country or a game of badminton will be relaxing. So, what's the secret? Joe explains that it's solitude. But, can our Everyman attain it?
