Made famous the world over for its convenient divorce laws, the city of Reno, Nev. is truly a haven for married folk who have experienced changes of heart. But it has never before been known to be instrumental in a romance that meant wedding bells instead of divorce. In this picture it happens. Jack can only get that $20,000 left him in a will if he marries Grace, whom he never saw, and Grace is left money on the same condition, she never laid eyes on Jack. Neither of them likes the idea at all, and Grace sets about to change her pretty face and clothing into something ugly. Jack gets a similar idea, and as a result, it's a typical tough that meets a stupid-looking Sis Hopkins at the lawyer's office next day. They are completely nauseated with each other, but the money stares them in the face, and to their mutual disgust, they are married. Jack gets home and decides to go to Reno for a divorce. Grace decides ditto. Result, they go to Reno separately. They do not recognize each other, of course, and Jack, stopping at the same hotel, starts a flirtation. After a while she responds. They seem to be pretty much pleased with each other, and soon become rather chummy. One day they meet at their lawyer's office, and each confesses to the other the object of their visit, to get a divorce, of course. Prospects are rosy, and they are good pals, never suspecting that they are each anxious to divorce one another. A few months pass, and while the pair are sitting in the hotel lobby one day, Grace's lawyer prances joyfully on the scene with her divorce papers all signed and sealed! Just as joyfully does she seize them and show them to Jack. With a pleased expression he slowly scans the documents most coveted in Reno, when his eye falls on the name of the "party of the second part." Why! It's his name! Bingo! "And who are you?" She tells him. He can hardly believe it; hardly can she. When they finally understand each other, however, they find that they love each other even more, and he claims her for his wife. But they have just been divorced! Well, what would you do if you were in his place? That's just what he does.
