The Living Museum (1998)
16 Oct 1998 • Documentary • 1h 18m
stunning, moving, beautiful, and inspiring. I was absolutely speechless and will be looking for more information about the filmmaker, the artists depicted, and the museum within the institution filmed. As a drama therapist, I could only think "more people need to see this! I hope she makes a documentary about drama therapy!"Not only was it informative, but it really guided me through the process of seeing clients as more than their diagnoses. They switch roles as we all do. The fluency and eloquence of the artists were also remarkable. Their ability to discuss the role of mental illness in the creative arts and the experience of mental illness itself was...well, I can't say it as well as they can! I certainly hope more work like this is produced for the general public who may fear the mentally ill out of lack of exposure, and for those who do not understand the healing power of a creative outlet. What a treasure!
