Deep Inside Trading (1987)
X Adult, Comedy • 1h 7m
Cameraman turned director Larry Revene (hiding behind a secondary pseudonym L. Vincent Ravine which incorporates his debt to writer/producer/colleague Chuck Vincent) made this fast-paced, rather silly comedy about Wall Street hi-jinks. It's not exactly Oliver Stone time but a good cast does a decent job.Principal players are Krista Lane and in non-sex mode Rachel Royce as strong femme adversaries. Lane runs an unscrupulous trading firm in tandem with Rick Savage, and they are introduced amusingly humping away as each one is on the phone making trades and barking orders. Krista's thick bush is on display in tight close-up, and all the femmes in the cast are identifiable by their highly dated '80s hair-dos, an unintentional source of humor here. The slapstick and broad performances take a bit of getting used to but fit the subject. Sheri St. Clair is the injured party, hiring Royce's detective firm named Haywood Agency to get to the bottom of the insider trading and double-dealing that has cost Sheri's fiancé his company. He's in the hospital, victim of some violent activities by the bad guys, and the film does not shy away from cartoonish effects especially involving Lane. With a large number of concise sex scenes built into the brief hour-plus running time, real revelation is Tara Blake as Suzette, a very tall blonde actress who reminded me just a bit of the Aunt Peg character so indelibly created by Juliet Anderson. This is the only Tara film I've ever seen but I'll be checking her out in an Eric Edwards feature on the basis of this performance.Lengthy cast list resembles many NYC rosters of the era, especially the lamentable efforts at this time of Joe Sarno, but this one is different by virtue of having been shot on film. It's nothing special, and is hampered by an emphasized, unfunny running gag of "delivery boy" Scott Baker doing a terrible accent and worse performance supposedly giving head under the desk to Royce, neither of them delivering any explicit sex.
