The families of Vilims and Stepans are well known chocolate makers. They plan to unite their factories through a marriage of Alik, the son of old Adolf Vilim and a Stepan's daughter Nina. Both young people belong to the "golden youth" and meet quite often, but there is no hint of interest in them. Mrs Stepan finds an elegant solution. She organizes a charity visit to poor family of beggar Pesta in a place and time agreed with Adolf Vilim. Adolf sends his son and Mrs Stepan tries to bring Nina to get them together. But proud Nina gets suspicious and refuses to go. The visit goes astray. Mrs Stepan arranges a secretary job for an unemployed beggar's daughter Zuzka to help the family. The girl openly shows contempt for insipid Alik and it fascinates him. He was always treated with a care and caution and now this. Alik falls in love with Zuzka and gets in a conflict with his father. As he refuses to forget her, he has to leave his home. Zuzka and Alik (with help of his uncles) start a small diary downtown. They work hard and prosper. The boys and girls of the "golden" parties come to see their reformed friend and laugh at him. But the young couple keeps their course and the mockery visits slowly turn into an sort of advertising of a fashion "milk club". Meantime Nina gives the problem a new thought. She asks the Alik's former jolly "golden" friends to bring him back. Alik must face the decision.
