In the first novel, a husband tells his wife that he is leaving on a business trip for a couple of days. She wants to knit a pullover for him. While shopping for the wool she happens to see his car parked in a street. Evidently, her husband is being unfaithful. However, what should she do - kick up a row or preserve her family? In the second novel, the elderly auditor Kantarev goes to a business trip. At a restaurant he notices that a young waitress is being polite with him. In his mind's eye, he is picturing the details of a possible one-night stand. The young waitress invites him to her home and ... introduces him to her husband as her schoolmaster - whom she still fondly remembers. The third novel takes place on the set of a film. The episode, which is being filmed, features a young actress. Her boyfriend, who is on leave from the army, has only a few minutes to spare. Bizhev, the production manager, is making up to the actress. Take after take are being shot and the two young people cannot have a few words undisturbed. Then Bizhev kicks the basket in which the cats needed in the episode are kept. The cats scatter. That gives the lovers an opportunity of getting together.
