Carreras Domingo Pavarotti in Concert (1990)
Music • 1h 26m
I am a huge fan of classical music and opera, always have been, always will be, and Carreras Domingo Pavarotti in Concert is one of the most memorable and pleasurable experiences I've had in all my years of being a fan.I will have watched it anyway, but I watched Carreras Domingo Pavarotti in Concert, because I love Placido Domingo(always has been my personal favourite of the three because of his ability to become the character he portrays and his versatility), I like Luciano Pavarotti(probably the most unique and effortless tenor voice of the trio) and Jose Carreras(least familiar with him but I find him charming with a very appealing voice) a lot and Zubin Mehta is a very talented conductor. The four of them together and you have a wonderful night. The orchestra are wonderful and sound very confident and well-rehearsed, while Mehta's conducting is exemplary. Carreras Domingo Pavarotti in Concert is also beautifully shot and the atmosphere feels very welcoming. The Three Tenors are in truly great voice, all three exude great chemistry and bring passion to what they sing. Domingo communicates and acts the best I think, and Carreras sings with intelligence and musicality but for his infectious personality and his effortless voice in full flight I found myself particularly impressed by Pavarotti here. The music is as expected amazing. Nessun Dorma(Turandot) is a rendition not to forget, but let's not forget the barnstorming Granada, L'Improvvisso from Andrea Chenier. Torno e Surriento and the two Tosca arias Recondita Armonia and E Lucevan e Le Stelle, all are outstanding and performed to a consistent high standard. All in all, wonderful and definitely an experience to remember and treasure. 10/10 Bethany Cox
