John Fogerty: Premonition Concert (1998)
06 Jun 1998 • Music
It's great to see John Fogerty after so many years reconcile himself with his past. Finally he realizes what a crime it would be to forever let his work with Creedence Clearwater Revival lay fallow. In the excellent concert film he rocks through virtually all his major hits with CCR as well as doing versions of "Rockin' All Over the World" and "Almost Saturday Night," two "cult classics" from his long out-of-print post-CCR solo recording, 'John Fogerty.' He also proves that the creative well has not dried up by including several fine versions of his newer songs. One highlight is 'Joy of My Life,' written for his second wife. It's a unabashed love song, the kind he never, ever used to write. Throw in the best from his album 'Centerfield' and you've got a super evening. It's one that Fogerty fans won't want to miss, even if you haven't given him much thought lately.
