Scrappy is putting on a marionette show. Oopie keeps trying to get in, but each time he does, Scrappy punches him in the face. When Oopie sneaks in, he gains his revenge by using a pea shooter to destroy the marionettes. It's a fine Scrappy cartoon from the post-Dick-Huemer era. It will not, quite obviously, be turning up on your broadcast TV channel any time soon. The modern assumption is that children -- particularly the children of whoever is making this statement -- are angels, and looking at Scrappy hitting Oopie will make their children hit each other. As anyone with a brother close to his age can tell you (my brother and I were born sixteen months apart), kids beat each other up because it's fun. And yes, we knew cartoons weren't real. It's strange this was released in the summer, because the music and images of marionettes coming to life seem much more of a Halloween theme. However, a lot of Scrappy cartoons are weird, and three months to let its Holiday appropriate nature sink in isn't unreasonable. These cartoons would circulate on the exchanges for years.
