La parda Flora (1952)

The Parda Flora ("Parda" means her being of dark-colored skin, and is a pejorative term)is a woman of obscure origins, probably a former whore, and a popular singer, who keeps an inn and appears to be the owner of some lamentable houses, which frequently fall down or cause accidents to their inhabitants. But the real owner, both of the inn and the houses, is a rich politician, of whom she has been a lover. Social struggle in pre-Peronist Argentina is shown through the story of this troubled woman, her love drama and her situation with her daughters. This film was released in the same year of the death of Evita, with a friendly underlying message towards Peronism.
