Ground Hog Play (1956)
10 Feb 1956 • Animation, Short, Comedy • 0h 6m
The pages of the newspaper funnies come to life. In his own comic strip, Casper the Friendly Ghost attempts to make friends with a couple of boys who are building a snowman. They scream and run away in fear. Even the snowman reacts with fright and then melts. Casper exits his own strip and enters "Hillary the Ground Hog." In that strip, Hillary is looking for his shadow and is despondent when he can't find it. This gives Casper an idea. He covers himself with chimney soot and pretends to be the young groundhog's shadow himself. The two of them have fun as Casper, eager to be a proper shadow, imitates Hillary's every move. But Hillary is terrified when he learns Casper's true identity and he escapes into "King of the Jungle." Casper proves himself worthy of friendship by saving Hillary from the jaws of the comic strip's title beast.
