Shabab (1954)
Drama, Romance • 2h 17m
Shabab, means youth, which is ultimately the theme of the movie ?? although it is a romantic love story. Reminiscent of the the ancient Indian tradition of child matrimony, princess falling in love with a pauper prince genre of early movie making. Fantastic music by maestro Naushad supported by youthful full-throated Rafi, Lata, manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, and classical greats. Some prints are faded but 1954 release is a long time ago. Sound is still great. Acting by Nutan and Bharat Bhushan memorable.
