Une fille épatante (1955)
06 Dec 1955 • Comedy • 1h 28m
Plot: a girl has a trick to earn her crust: when she rides her bike ,she (softly) smashes into a ( luxury) car and she claims a hefty sum to buy a new bicycle and a new dress .And every time it works.A cop passes himself off as a mobster to investigate trade in stolen cars ; when she clashes into his car, the cyclist mistakes him for a true gangster ,it opens new horizons for her: she wants to help him with his dirty business and thus make more dough.Much to the cop's displeasure ,she steals six cars in one night.A potboiler for Raymond Rouleau -who would first transfer Miller's "the crucible" to the screen the following year- ,it's a vehicle for comic actress Sophie Desmarets : unfortunately , this cock and bull story never takes off ;worse, it is very slow-moving ,boring;as silly as the song over the cast and credits .Director Raoul André's routine flick ;best avoid.NB :the girl's trick is ,more or less, the same as Gaby Morlay's in "le billet de mille" (1935) ;Jean Lefèvre appears now and then to play the trombone.
