Driven by an endless, larger-than-life desire for more, the unscrupulous and parsimonious businessman, Fanouris Karababas, takes great pleasure in boasting about his ability to deceive others. Blinded by insatiable greed, Fanouris even abuses his own family, meddling with his daughter Aleka's love affair, humiliating his lawyer wife, Areti, and refusing to give his brother his share of their parents' property. To make him see the error of his ways, Areti, with the aid of the family's doctor, concocts a desperate plan, hoping for the best. Now, covetous Fanouris is convinced that he is dying.
