Vaso, a troubled young woman, is forced to leave her village, and her mother's abusive boyfriend, to seek refuge in faceless Athens. Eager to wipe the slate clean and bury the past, principled and honest Vaso manages to land a job at a factory, and even find solace in a new friend from work. One day, for fun, Vaso and her colleague decide to write a letter to Stathis, an expatriate whom they have never seen before, and as one thing leads to another, a passionate affair between Vaso and Stathis begins. However, jealousy is a disease, and Vaso's friend, green with envy, concocts a sinister plan to destroy the young lovers' happiness. Will this betrayal mark the end of a great romance?
