The Blue Beads from Greece (1967)
20 Feb 1967 • Comedy, Musical • 1h 34m
While at the ancient Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Kostas Pitouras, a young pedlar of shoddy souvenirs, stumbles upon Jim, a wealthy Greek-American expatriate, who plans to open a cosy boîte in Plaka, Athens. Of course, this is an unexpectedly marvellous golden opportunity for profit, and before long, Kostas enlists the help of the talented bouzouki player, Fotis Tsipouras, determined to become the area's most-visited tourist attraction. But, in the meantime, in another small nightclub just across the street, Mary, the fresh and modern lead singer of the all-girl yé-yé band "Crazy Girls", nurtures the same ambitions. Now, in the once-peaceful neighbourhood, two diverse worlds will inevitably collide. Nevertheless, isn't love always above all?
