Widowed and with three grown-up sons, the stern Director of the Naval Academy, Leonidas Petrochilos, has his hands full organising the house and the domestic obligations. Exhausted and fed up with his sons' reluctance to lend a hand, the desperate bachelor hires the young and beautiful, Mary Hatzithoma, as a live-in housekeeper, to put an end once and for all in the absolute chaos that reigns in his home.
