Carlos, a left-wing militant involved in actions against the Brazilian dictatorship in the early seventies, decides to get closer to his teenage son Gabriel, but his duties towards the revolutionary struggle will make him move away again from the boy, who does not understand the absence of the dad. They have been away for eight years. One was in boarding school and the other in prison. He takes his son out from the boarding school, and puts him temporarily in a friend's luxury and empty apartment in Copacabana beach. He is trapped in an almost empty apartment and having only the company of a TV set and a guitar. He knows very little about his father, and the latter cannot really explain his activities to his son, fearing for his security. So the young man stands alone in the huge apartment, waiting for the infrequent meetings with his father, without really knowing what's going on. Meanwhile he ends up facing the need to discover his own identity.
