Nosferato in Brazil (1970)

Nosferato no Brasil (1970) ** (out of 4)Ivan Cardoso's first film has a vampire (who looks like a hippie) going around Brazil and biting woman barely wearing any clothes. If you're familiar with any of the later work of Cardoso then you already know that he likes to blend horror and comedy. His most famous film is probably THE WEREWOLF IN THE AMAZON with Paul Naschy but this here, due to its title alone, is also quite popular. I doubt too many people other than the director actually know what it's about but the plot is rather slim to say the least and more than anything I'd say this is meant to not make a lot of sense. I'm sure the Coffin Joe films that were popular around this time were also an influence. With that said, as long as you don't take this too serious then you should be mildly entertained by it. It was obviously done on a very small budget and most of the shots appeared to have been one take only. The film isn't a masterpiece or even very good but it's mildly entertaining.
