The middle-aged manufacturer Jens Steen is on his way to his summer house by the sea to rest for a few days. All alone. At the same time, the 20-year-old Else Petersen is out on the road hitchhiking - in search of a free holiday. Jens gives Else a lift. She accompanies him to the summer house.
