Lyssky transport (1958)
08 Sep 1958 • Crime • 1h 40m
This film is a close knitted story in the film noir tradition that could have been made earlier, except that it has a contemporary theme for the time, the cold war. Audience and reviewers did not quite know what to do with it, being so alien in its serious note. The Saga studios produced almost solely cheap comedies, and being a film noir like production this film is made cheap, yet with outstanding photography. There are no stars among the cast, but Preben Lerdorff Rye of 'Ordet' fame comes across with strength and integrity, when he takes upon him to bring the smuggling kingpin to justice. He has taken advantage of the younger relative and made him take a prison rap for his lucrative business, smuggling banned goods from Western Europe to Eastern Europe to be used in the armament industry. Seen from today the film is more interesting than people of the fifties acknowledged.
