Baby på eventyr (1942)
26 Dec 1942 • Comedy, Family • 1h 34m
Lawyer Jessen played by Gunnar Lauring teams up with Beatrice Bonnesen in a Powell-Loy tradition of solving crimes in a humorous way with snappy dialog and well paced action. The influence from American screw ball comedies is clear, and it is a welcome addition to the usually slow paced and somewhat dull Danish comedies of the time. Johan Jacobsen used this formula several times with success. A sidekick in this and other comedies over many years is the silly Christian Arhoff, who's popularity meant, that he was only banned three years of film appearance after a fling with the Nazi party during the war. This story is less sinister and the baby only appears in the last part of the movie. However, the baby and Arhoff is better here than in other Danish films, so Johan Jacobsen once again demonstrates, that he has a flair for the witty free wheeling comedy vehicle, more so than other directors at the time.
