The newly graduated organist Mogens gets a job in a small town at the expense of the consul's daughter. Uglesete from the beginning, Mogens and his brother - who play music in the popular department - must try to win the hearts of the city. However, sweet music arises between Mogens and the local newspaper editor Lise - but then an unexpected accusation hits him.
