Romantic tragedy is set in the 1830s when freedom from Russian rule was a faint hope of the Polish. Jozin Migurski (Artur Zmijewski) is a suitor for spirited Albina (Magdalena Wojcik), daughter of an aristocratic land-owner. He joins in on the attempted revolt in Warsaw, is captured and is sent to serve at a Siberian border outpost with no hope of returning.
