Don't watch this movie in a dubbed version, and don't watch it, if you don't understand German! The main quality of Reinhard Schwabenitzky's very successful comedy is the comparison between Austrian and German language, the different accents, different ways of dealing with problems, different profanities. That's what the humour is about here. Schwabenitzky makes actors come together who are really typical for their home countries, for instance Andreas Vitásek, a comedian who always sound funny, no matter what he is saying and Ernst Konarek, the typical Viennese pleb for Austria, Elfi Eschke, the director's resolute wife and Hans Clarin for Germany. The roles are written for the actors, they know what to do with them, and so Schwabenitzky doesn't need more. The story isn't particularly interesting, the dialogues aren't funny actually, only in the context of the everlasting Austrian-German duel, but the film really works. Schwabenitzky has actually made the first authentic Austrian-German comedy without taking one part. Fantastic!
