In a village in Poitou, around the house of a carpenter, life flows slowly away from the din and incessant conflicts of the big cities. We are at the beginning of summer. The school year is over, and the holidays are starting. Annie, daughter of the carpenter, has for boyfriend Frédéric, very well seen by the father, and whom she has known since her childhood. Their relationships are purely platonic and the day she wants to give herself to him he refuses because the next day he has to participate in a bicycle race. Shortly after, he received his road map and had to go to military service. Annie meets Alexandre, a young snob who studied in Paris and owns a sports car. The father does not look favorably on this new relationship with his daughter. But Alexandre, while still a little silly, is nonetheless sympathetic and polite. Annie will give herself to him, curious to have her first experience in this way. But she does not like Alexandre and it is with Frédéric that she will probably resume a tender and loving relationship later.
