Subteranul (1967)
15 Mar 1969 • Drama, War • 1h 37m
Heavy-caliber actors, Toma Caragiu, Emil Botta, together with Dem Radulescu, wasted in a obvious Communist propaganda with dramatic accents and, at times, due to Toma Caragiu and Dem Radulescu, also comical. Beautiful Monica Ghiuta has a small, insignificant role. Emil Botta, as in all the films in which he appeared, he's a unique presence, like coming from another world, one of the land of absolute sadness. Leopoldina Balanuta, Iurie Darie, Constantin Codrescu, they are just credible. Four stars for the efforts of Toma Caragiu, Dem Radulescu, Emil Botta and Monica Ghiuta, one star for each. Virgil Calotescu was the most prolific Romanian filmmaker in making the highest number of communist propaganda films, especially with economic-industrial subject.
