Excellent film that is available only in a semi-restored copy, made by Robles himself, from a remaining copy of the movie the was located in Moscow. Robles Godoy had maintained, for years that he negative has been destroyed by the lab because he could not pay for its keeping. In any case Alex labs in Argentina was destroyed by fire in the 70's. Fortunately the film still exists. The film begins with a man looking for gold in the jungle. The gold is in the hands of an old woman. Te film then uses a very rich and complex narrative in which the main character is hostile to the whole world. Like i other Robles films, nature is not kind to the white man. The director is heavily influenced in his work by Antonioni, however his character i simply "The Man". A great Latin- American film with substance. If you get a chance watch it. Hopefully somebody my put it on DVD or show a copy at a Fesival near you. Not to be missed.
