Lilian Andreesen, the daughter of Danish newspaper king Holger, is crazy about music. Holger has just brought her back from the boarding school in Lausanne back to Denmark when Lilian surprised him with the news that she had received a commitment in the nightclub Tivoli. When Holger threatens to send her back to boarding school immediately, Lilian flees to Germany with her aunt Henriette's car. Not far from Heidelberg she has a breakdown and is towed by Martin Fischer at night. Although he is actually a law student, however, he earns his money for studying at Autozentrale Vogt as a car mechanic.Martin is initially critical of Lilian, his boss, the playboy Stefan Vogt, but takes a liking to the young woman. He places her in an inn in a room that was originally intended for his American love, Baby Bird, but which does not appear until the following day. Stefan now moves Lilian, as Baby Bird insists on full attention. Martin jumps in and spends a day with Lilian in Heidelberg. They look at all sights and go in the evening in a club where they sing a title together. Baby Bird and Stefan join in as well and Baby Bird forces Martin to dance with her. Disappointed, Lilian leaves the club. Stefan senses his chance with Lilian and invites her to a big party, where about 20 people are expected. In fact, he only invited LilianMartin learns that Lilian's car is being searched by the police because he actually belongs to her aunt Henriette. Henriette, on the other hand, is on her way to Heidelberg, as her car was spotted there. On the way she takes with her the charming Richard Fischer, who turns out to be the father of Martin. Henriette and Richard find the car in Stefan's car center and learn that Lilian is currently with Stefan. Meanwhile, she tries to fend off Stefan's advances. Timely, Martin appears to warn Lilian before the police, and Henriette comes to make Stefan and makes it clear that Lilian is not a thief, but the daughter of a heavy man. Martin, on the other hand, realizes that as a daughter of a good family, she can not be a match for him. To make matters worse, Martin is also dismissed by Stefan.Martin meets with his father, who falls in love with Henriette. Lilian wants to become down-to-earth and enroll in law school in Heidelberg. Although Lilian is now his fellow student, he largely ignores her. With Henriette and Richard's help, Lilian manages to test him: she pretends to be consumed with grief, and Martin wants to help her immediately without taking advantage of the situation. Both reconcile. Stefan, however, has not given up yet. He wants to marry Lilian and sends a corresponding telegram to Holger. Lilian also writes to her father that she has become engaged. Holger now drives to Heidelberg. Here Martin can prevent Stefan from extorting a marriage promise from Lilian with a trick. Stefan in turn is visited by Holger and almost beaten, Holger does not want to lose his daughter to a well-known Playboy. Stefan has to make a marriage promise in his distress Baby Bird. Holger goes to Henriette and Lilian in the hotel. Here are the couples. Henriette and Richard open Holger, that they will marry. Holger's marriage candidate for Lilian, the reporter Peter, has already married in Japan and appears with his wife in the hotel - he is spontaneously dismissed by Holger without notice. Lilian and Martin are engaged, but Holger does not want to allow a marriage. Only when Peter immediately wants to write a sensational article about the unfulfillable love of Lilian and Martin and makes a corresponding photo of the couple, Holger gives in: Both may marry and the photo will appear - in his newspaper, as an engagement picture.
