The episodes in this four-part film bear the titles "Love and Language," "Love and Life," "Love and Art," and "Love and Death." The movie emerges as a wry, often Boccaccio-like series of narratives about love, lust, infidelity, scheming men and women. My favorite in "Love and Death," which is a about a woman who frequents cemeteries and pretends to be a widow mourning her husband just so that she can pick up wealthy bereaved men burying their wives, strike up a romance, and fleece the guys out of their money. Nice racket. This is a genuine "commedia all'italiana" which has remained pretty much unseen (and unknown) since its initial unsuccessful release in the U.S., after which it was shelved. It stars Sylva Koscina, Carlo Giuffre', Franca Rame, Michele Mercier, Alberto Lionello. The episodes were directed by Massimo Mida, Jacques Romain, Gianni Puccini, and Mino Guerrini.
