This remarkable picture concerns the rise of a known Torero , Manuel Benitez , inside and outside of the bullfighters ring . Born into poverty , reared in an orphanage , his mother died shortly after and a year later he was let out . Later on , he became a construction-worker and petty criminal, at the age of twenty-three Benítez lived in a village near Córdoba and dreamed of being a bullfighter . At the beginning of the film , he flees from his impoverished countryside origin for the broader horizons of the big city . As he tries to help his sister (Elvira Quintilla) and children . This is a good film about a young who emigrates like many others to get fame and fortune ; however , he finds exploitation and hardworking , and finally he gets his dream : to be a successful bullfighter ,thanks to a promoter or Apoderado (Ismael Merlo) . And in the city he gets help from a good family formed by father (Jose Orjas) , mother (Lina Yegros) and daughter (Bustos) , the latter falls in love for him . Significant moment in his career came on May 20, 1964, when he made his first appearance at Las Ventas, the bullring of Madrid . Watched on television by many Spaniards, the bullfight ended with the near-fatal goring of El Cordobés on the horns of the bull Impulsivo. Aftter that , El Cordobés became the greatest matador in history.This is a biographic movie about Manuel Benitez "El Cordobés", of humble origin , managed to become one of the most famous representatives of international bullfighting and is considered to be one of the icons of the 1960s . At the same time the movie deals with Spanish-style bullfighting , it is called Corrida De Toros (literally "running of bulls") or la fiesta ("the festival"). Realist yarn talks about a young illiterate goes to big city to achieve great success as matador . Along the way he finds distresses , penury and hard as well as part-time jobs The film has great interest for fans of bullfighting because being a summary of the typical and well built screenplay upon a bullfighter who emerges from anonymity, seeking his opportunity, in ¨Becerradas¨ and rushing for spontaneous , this is a person who illegally jumps into the ring to fight the bull . Lazaga was a Spanish craftsman who directed various film with the popular comic player Paco Martinez Soria . Pedro was a prolific director and writer, known for Los Chicos Del Preu (1967), Cuerda De Presos (1956) and María Morena (1951).
