Ramona (1961)
22 Dec 1961 • Comedy • 1h 44m
After the austere 1950's, German audiences in the sixties wanted their entertainment to take them far away to the exotic, and this film from the Alfa stable gave them a taste of the South Seas without the budgetary implications of location filming.A theatre production has to get Ramona, a Tahiti artiste, for the new production, but she won't agree to come yet. So a Frankfurt nightclub dancer secretly stands in. Then the real Ramona arrives and there's a brief exchange of mistaken invitations to her boudoir.Never strong on plot, the film was a lightweight vehicle for several musical numbers that made it into the German hit parade of the time. Very much a piece of its time (1961).
