Very delightful children's film for young and old, a fairy tale not based on an existing one, but written for the screen; a script that really has been thought about.. The script is full of nice ideas, and is well-written. I especially like the reason for closing down the school; on a sign it says: "School closed cause of laziness". There are some nice visual ideas too, like the royal bed that in jiffy can be turned into the throne. Good direction and pacing (better directed than the average children's film; direction by Otto Meyer: who he?). The very appropriate sugar sweet Agfa-colors, delightful sets, fine music by (again) Norbert Schultze including a nice song about living in Schlaraffenland, and children and grown-up cast showing they enjoyed doing this one, add to the joy.By the way, you might get hungry watching this one, so you better have some snacks at hand.
