The family of countess Christine has planned that she shall marry count Hohenegg, whom she never met before. Therefore she will meet him incognito during the Kaiserball (emperors ball) at Ischl to become acquainted with him. At the same time seamstress Franzi has to deliver some robes for another countess who will as well join the ball. Upon arrival Franzi is mistakenly held for countess Christine whereas countess Christine traveling under wrong identity with her mother as her maiden are mistaken as confidence tricksters. Of course count Hohenegg falls for wrong countess Franzi and Christine falls for count Baranyi a friend of Hohenegg.
