Únos (1953)

I've seen many propaganda movies from different countries and I bet I saw almost all Czech ones as well - and as far as I know this is the strongest Czech propaganda which was ever made. The plot is very easy - one group of people decides to hijack a plane in order to get out from Czechoslovakia, the pilot is involved as well so the hijack itself is pretty quick. The rest of the movie is about those "bad" capitalists who are trying to convince the "poor" socialist people to stay in western world and talk about repressions in Czechoslovakia. The Americans even dare to use psychological and physical power to break them ! This plan fails of course and brave "comrades" are gloriously returning back to their country. This movie can be great fun when watched with the 50 year distance, it contains really good jokes about Americans (especially about the us army) but it can make you feel really sick when you imagine living in this time, in early years after the war, with political processes, with nationalization of private assets, with cold war starting ... If you're into propaganda movies this is the movie you shoudn't miss.(*) check the one that applies
